Tripwire is a sig mapping tool - developed for wspace, expanding to kspace and developed by me for the past 3 years.
Features:
- Constant background updating - all information is kept up-to-date
- Detailed system information (security, local pirates, wormhole effects, region, PI, planets, static connections)
- System activity graph ranging from 24 hours to 1 week (ship jumps, NPC kills, ship kills, pod kills)
- EVE server status and player count
- Dynamic Chain map with detail information:
- Connecting lines colored to show wormhole status (critical/destabilized)
- Systems labeled (HS, LS, NS) from connection type, system or user defined
- Icons for wormhole effect and player location (hover-over for details)
- Last hour activity for ship jumps, NPC kills, ship kills and pod kills (colored dots)
- User ability to "Flare" a system (right-click) to bring focus for others (colored red, green or yellow)
- Currently viewed system colored blue
- Ability to maximize chain to full screen or allow full screen width
- Ability to toggle jump calculations to currently viewed system
Copy & Paste scan results will insert and update when needed (paste as much as you want)
Notes section for each system
Customize layout by re-arranging sections or collapsing them
Sharing of data with another group registered on demand[/list]
Screen Shot
Currently it is in final beta and to sign up you must first be authorized by me. Contact me before registering - access can be given by character/corp/alliance.
Tripwire is currently FREE to use so signup now and never pay to use it! It is expected to go fully public any month now. |

Tripwire is not vulnerable to an MITM attack because it uses a certified SSL, not some cheap SSL that just encrypts the connection. One of many sources to prove my point

New layout is now live.
It is now possible to take a peak at Tripwire before registering. However to fully use Tripwire you will need to register under a corp/alliance which your corp or alliance must do prior to registering. Please contact me to setup your corp/alliance.

Note that the IGB sometimes requires clearing the cache multiple times. As reported by some users.
Also when first opening Tripwire it is best to open it in a large window and adjust the layout via the "lock" button in the top right corner. |

I have spent considerable time and money ensuring Tripwire is secure, far more secure than any other 3rd party tool. Just look at the certified SSL encryption - 256-bit encrypted which is more than some online stores and includes this very forum.
Privately hosted 3rd party tools have many server back-doors simply because they are not setup properly; and if they are, none will have an SSL encryption like Tripwire.
Tripwire's SSL has cost far more then the servers (yes servers not server) and requires weeks of paperwork to be filed any time there is any change to the server.
I simply refuse to give anyone, including KILL, any information tracked by Tripwire because it is literally not worth the risk. I have much larger plans then just Tripwire.
If that isn't enough for you then I implore you to speak with others - as you can see I have many long time users that have complete trust in Tripwire and in me. |

Why would someone expend considerable time and money on something that gets them nothing in return. You charging nothing for the tool only increases suspicion. Someone busting their ass for all this just to give it away for free, and then claim that they wouldn't take advantage the wealth of intel available if your tool propogates...? What's the end goal? the only observable value you can get out of this is intel or reputation for developing secure tools. IF the rep was your objective what are you going to do with THAT? make another tool and charge isk for that one? Why not just take payment for this one in the first place to 1. make money and 2. ward off suspicion. The whole thing smells like Pell's ******* to me.
You have an excellent question and point! I should have addressed this already.
I created Tripwire 3 years ago because I wanted to a new hobby project (I had previously created .NET apps). Now over the years Tripwire has become my "baby" project - I continue it because I enjoy coding but mostly now because it speaks highly of my skills to potential employers.
Companies are only inclined to disclose only if you worked for them - the company I currently work at has such a policy. So other than a job title I can carry almost nothing to my next company even though I have done amazing work.
Tripwire actually got me my current job 2 years ago, I am the lead internal web application developer for a multi-billion dollar company. And now having an increasingly popular web application for instantly sharing data across the world securely will give me a serious edge in a job interview down the road.
So the more popular Tripwire gets - the more likely I will get a high paying IT job in the future. So I'm not getting nothing in return - I'm actually investing in my future which will probably pay off 10 fold.
I hope this explains why I am doing what I am with Tripwire. |

I am going to have to delay the patch I was going to release last night for 24/48 hours.
During testing of some new features I found some flaws in the back-end. No security flaws, only efficiency issues and uniformity.
I am going to be rapidly fixing these issues on Galileo so expect major parts not to work at random times. |

Yesterday (2/23) Tripwire usage broke records again with over 1,000 signatures being tracked and almost 100 concurrent users. This caused a total of 1% CPU usage across 6 cores. Total bandwidth usage of just over 6 GB.

I have not released source code because Tripwire is still in beta form. In the past month alone I have changed over 2,000 lines of core code. I am attempting to better objectify the code to make future modifications easier and less dependent on other code. I do not know when all of the code will be made available - however I will be releasing some of the more complex code used for things like javascript jump calculations.
One thing about 3rd party tools I don't understand ... Why do ppl want to run private or offline tools to assist in playing a MMO single shard game where shared intel and teamwork prevail? The only answer I ever hear is "security"...
My response: A single instance/server is easier to fortify and protect - I would put my tool and servers against any privately run any day. As for not trusting me personally... give me a chance - I will not disappoint. Also you realize that the same people who code EVE also play EVE ... just think about that one.
In short - I will slowly release source code; and give my tool and trusting me a chance and like many others you will not be disappointed. Lets stay on topic or take these debates to other threads or my Tripwire forums. Best part of Tripwire is my 3 years of constant development and I love feedback and use it - my ear is always available and attached to an open mind.

You asked, so I gotta answer. :) My reason is most definitely not security. Its for the fun of it. I've been a linux nerd since 1994, I do a hosting business as a side business, I do hosting in my day job, I love it all and find it exciting and thrilling. I love making things 'work' for my guys. I love when they say "man I wish the mapper did XYZ", and instead of saying "let me submit a feature request to the author, I'll let you know when its been done", I can say "hangon", and some minutes later the feature they wanted is there, and being submitted upstream to the core developer for inclusion in the main tree. That said, again, I have nothing against you or your tool in any way, just answering your question. :) I actually think yours looks pretty slick, looking forward to poking at it some day!
I got to answer yours now :) ...
You should help me! I would love to expand this project and I can't do everything myself. If your interested convo me or jump on the Tripwire forums. |

Patch above will be pushed within the hour.
Note that your Tripwire might stop syncing until the page is refresh after patch - I will post in here when patch is live.
Also patch will break current wormhole type numbering (K162 2). To fix you just need to edit and save the wormholes. This is because of major DB changes that couldn't be avoided.
I will be available for the next 12 hours to address any issues you may have - so please contact me if you have any at all. |

Your right - Internet Spaceships are serious business .. but not credit card info serious. :)
A certified SSL does solve many other security issues other then just data transport encryption. Cross-site scripting, authentication/session and MITM attacks are also prevented.
Also I am willing to share Tripwire source code - just not all of it yet because it is far from complete. In the past month alone I have drastically changed much of the code regarding adding/editing/removing signatures not to mention the new UI layout. If you would like to see some code just post a request on the Tripwire forums.
Thank you - Tripwire wouldn't be what it is without all the feedback from users.

Tripwire patch released... This patch includes the new feature "Auto-Mapper".
Changes:
- Applied locale formatting to Note date/time
- Fixed null value bug with WH effect icon
- Auto-Mapper feature added
- Fixed issue where removing leads to system causes it to become EOL and removed
The auto-mapper toggle is located in the Signatures section across from the "Add Signature" link. Simply click to toggle (orange = active). Either use with IGB or have IGB open while using OOG (data link enabled) - ONLY ENABLE ONE!
As you jump from system to system w/ Auto-mapper toggled on (orange) it will add/edit sigs as needed to build a chain.
Logic used:
- If systems are already known to be connected via gate - Ignores
- If there is already a wormhole connecting these systems - Ignores
- First, it checks if their is a wormhole type that matches new system (B274 or "High-Sec" for HS) - Updates
- Second, it checks if there are any wormholes without a connection - Updates
- Finally it will just add a new sig with an ID of "???" and type of "???"
If at any time one of these results in multiple possibilities then a dialog will ask which signature ID you want to update.
I recommend pasting all system signatures and keep pasting them to update signatures as wormholes (Auto-mapper won't work on non-wormhole sigs).
*** NOTE: This feature will need some tweaking (namely when adding sigs one direction and auto-mapping backwords) Also getting podded out of w-space will result in a connection... next patch will limit auto-mapping to require being in a ship. Patch is now live!
A full page refresh is ideal to make sure you have all the latest code. ctrl-F5 or clear IGB cache.
Also this weekend Galileo will be getting a major server overhaul so it will be down - avoid using it until I post that it is ready again. Creator of Tripwire https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=320030&find=unread |

Most of the issue you and others are having is from page cache. Ctrl-F5 multiple times OOG and IGB -> Options -> General Settings -> Clear Browser Cache multiple times too.
Even then sometimes there are issues....
The issue is with the last patch I modified some core code - the browser cache is using old core code and not downloading the new code like it should. I don't know if there is anything I can do on my end but I will be possibly pulling an all nighter to try and fix or at least improve the situation.

Yea OOG I have cleared the cache and done CTRL F5 many times. Honestly I only ever used it with chrome so technically it would have been my first time loading it in IE. Still no joy. Let me know if I can be of any assistance testing etc.
I have completely disabled page caching on both Tripwire and Galileo. I am also debugging some issues with default options not loading correctly and hope to release a hot patch within the hour.
I am available right now on the Tripwire Public channel if you want to chat - could use some help with testing to make sure the fix works once I finish it. Creator of Tripwire https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=320030&find=unread |

Ok I have released a hot patch on Tripwire that should fix a majority of issues people are having. However there were still some others that this hot patch didn't fully help.
If your still having issues with seeing a chain let me know. The more users with an issue I can work with the faster I can fix things.
For those of you that this is affecting - I apologize. I try hard to never cause major functionality issues like this. Creator of Tripwire https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=320030&find=unread |

This week you won't be seeing a patch like the previous weeks - this is because Galileo is being completely rebuilt... yup, brand new server from the ground up. Also I will be doing some major account changes to finish bridging the gap to finishing this beta and adding admin controls. I am hoping to release the new servers and next patch the same week EVE Kronos arrives (June 3rd).
Server changes:
- MySQL 5.5 (including table re-designs)
- PHP 5.5
- Major security overhaul + firewalls (even the passwords have passwords now!)
The biggest things with the server is the major performance boost gained from going from MySQL 5.1 to 5.5, and the complete overhaul of the sever security. Security gets a major boost in the form of SSL encryption on everything coming from and going to the server including 4096 bit encryption ciphers. We are locking down the servers so tight the NSA will be knocking on my door asking what I'm hiding.
As for Tripwire patch changes I can't say much at this point but my primary goal is finishing account changes and starting to add admin controls. I will post more details soon....

I am still in the process of major code changes so it is not open source at this time. I do eventually plan to release the code but at this point it is far down the road.
To get access simply shoot me an evemail and include the corps/alliances that want access.

Thanks Daimian At first glance it looks and works very well. In many areas it is better than Siggy. The feature I miss most is mass sig update i.e. copy everything from the scanner and paste to update all Tripwire signatures. Perhaps something to consider as future dev? Keep up great work!
Actually Tripwire does have a mass sig adding feature. Simply paste your copied scan results anywhere once Tripwire has focus - also Tripwire will only update sigs when your paste has new data... so paste as many times and as often as you like!

Just a quick update.... I will be delaying the next Tripwire patch another week or two. The next patch is going to be a complicated one and I want it to be rock solid before I release it.
There have also been some minor suggestions the past couple of weeks that I want to squeeze in... I will post more on those changes next week.
Last, I am also working on polishing up a design I have been working on for a new chain map rendering algorithm that will look pretty much the same but solve all of the flaws and weaknesses the current one has. Hi,
I'd like to address some rumors that have been brought to my attention regarding Tripwire....
I am the sole creator/coder/programmer of Tripwire. All code (except some javascript plugins) both client and server side has been hand written by me from scratch. Also the database was created from scratch by myself.
I am not nor have I ever been in Verge of Collapse, however i used to be in Kill it with Fire. Also for the record Verge of Collapse does not even have Tripwire access.
I can see everyone's signatures since I have access to the database, but I am the only one with such access. I do not share anyone's data - that is just bad form and would force people away.
Hope this clears some things up.

Just thought I would check-in and give you all an update....
Tripwire development is still underway...
- Brand new server for Galileo finished
- New more secure (A+ rated) SSL purchased for new servers
- New front-end webpage under development (thanks Steven Hackett for the idea)
- New registration system in the works
- EVE SSO login implementation
I can't give you a date when the next update is - ensuring none of these changes breaks is critical since 24/7 99.99% up-time is my top priority.
August is also going to be a very busy month for me personally.
Lastly I am hoping to hear confirmation regarding the IGB directly from CCP soon, since it will drastically impact the direction of Tripwire changes coming.

The reason it has been taking atleast a few days for me to authorize corps right now is because I am in the process of getting a new job. This new job is about 6 hours away from my home so it is causing a huge disruption in my schedule.

I'm sorry but both of you are in NPC corps and since I can only grant Corp and Alliance wide authorization currently you will have to wait until you join a player corp.
The reason for this is I am in the process of completely re-coding the registration process for public use, and a major step to finishing the beta stage. I have no ETA on when this will be complete atm.

During EVE downtime for Hyperion patching Tripwire will be receving a hot patch to address some of the changes Hyperion is bringing...
- 72% of the new C4 statics will be added (thanks to those who did the work and for sharing it!)
- Until the Crius database dump is released the wormhole effect will be unchanged (a warning will be added to the effect display)
- A new wormhole type of M001 will be added for temporary use with new mass regenerating wormholes (will add new types as they are found)
- The signature ID reset during server downtime will be disabled, making them persist
Also some minor bug fixes are included but not worth listing
This weekend the next major patch for Tripwire will be released - including...
- New registration system (w/ landing page) - authorization to register is removed & NPC corp players can register
- New mask management added - this allows you full control over who has access to your data
- Many tweaks/bug fixes that will be listed later
If you want go ahead and checkout the test Tripwire now, however it is completely isolated from regular Tripwire right now. Galileo Creator of Tripwire https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=320030&find=unread |

- A new wormhole type of M001 will be added for temporary use with new mass regenerating wormholes (will add new types as they are found)

Also some minor bug fixes are included but not worth listing This weekend the next major patch for Tripwire will be released - including...
- New registration system (w/ landing page) - authorization to register is removed & NPC corp players can register
- New mask management added - this allows you full control over who has access to your data
- Many tweaks/bug fixes that will be listed later

PATCH DAY!!
Tripwire will be getting one of the largest patches ever in about 12 hours... 01:00 EVE time.
Because of the absolutely massive back-end changes please note the following: 1.) Signatures & Notes will be lost 2.) Everyone will need to register again 3.) Alliances have been removed 4.) Personal statistics will be reset
HOWEVER, you can start using the patch right now and get setup and transfer data via Galileo
WHAT WILL HAPPEN at 01:00 during patching you ask? We are simply going to point the Tripwire URL to the Galileo server. This means that everyone will see the change at different times because it can take 10 minutes or an hour for DNS servers to point you to the new server. Tripwire data won't be lost, you simply won't be able to get to it anymore because it will remain on the old server.
YOU SHOULD read up on the new Mask system and try and get setup early on Galileo.
** Patch notes & features will be added here in a few minutes **

Anyone who signs up during BETA will get lifetime access free.
Now that beta is coming to an end (few months yet), normal use and registration will remain free. However the corp admin features will no-longer be free. I can't give you details yet simply because I haven't decided - but likely it will be a 1 time fee in ISK for an entire corp to have admin access... something like 50mill.

Hi...
I have fixed the forum registration issue - new server was missing a library (thanks for letting me know)
The hardest part with building a public mapping tool is coding the ability to handle all the different ways groups do scanning and bookmarking. I have tried to create an auto-magical way but it falls short and has some bugs.
I am going to be completely re-writing this feature and some of the requirements are what you have covered already. The only reason I have yet to tackle this issue is I'm not even sure how to approach it yet - last thing I want is to spend a few weeks coding and miss a vital component.
Tripwire is built on user feedback and that will never change - keep giving me feedback and it will directly impact Tripwire.

This is because I am still dealing with a memory leak with the IGB that has the massive impact of being able to completely locking up your client for upto 30 seconds. I am getting close to finally remove this "safety" measure. Normally however Tripwire loads very quickly because of advanced caching and such but the server is located in Denver USA.... so when most people see 0.2 second load times you see about 2.
Static/Links below graph.... I am considering some layout changes including this - bare with me however because I am very particular about the UI and keeping it clean and sleek.
Sigs leads to.... Tripwire already supports using "Null-Sec" as a leads to. Also "Low-Sec" "High-Sec" and the various "Class 1".
Chain map updates.... Most people have asked to keep the chain map rendering every single possible connection. I will consider changing this into an option.
Hope this answers your questions - Please feel free to continue giving feedback and ideas... it is how I have been developing Tripwire.

Bjurn Akely wrote:Loving Tripwire so far. Really handy tool!
But I'm having issues with how the holes are names. Say that a set the letter option " a" to get C4a C4b etc...
The reason one (or at least WE) name holes C4a, b etc is so that hole can be 'referred to by it's 'name'. This is so I can say to my mates that I see a drake running a site in C3c, for instance.
The way Tripwire seem to handle this is that it sets the letter for each and every hole. So if there are two C2 holes in one hole they will be called C2a and C2b. Fine. But if another hole also contains C2 holes they will be named C2a (and C2b etc) in that hole. This is confusing.
I would like the option of telling Tripwire to only use the same letter once, for the same Class of holes. So ther can be only one C2a, only one C4a etc. Does that seem like something that could be done?
Now, perhaps this is already possible and it's something I've failed to figure out. If so, please instruct me or point out how to do it.
Thank you!
The issue your having is a common one - the code behind the class bookmark naming isn't working correctly and is going to be completely re-coded w/ new features including the ability to manually name them and the systems.
Keep an eye out for me posting a thread discussing this feature and how it should work soon.

Server Upgrades!!
Thanks to donations from various people using the PayPal Donate button at the bottom of Tripwire I am able to upgrade the server - doubling it's current power!
This upgrade will require a short outage of about 10-15 minutes that will happen @ 01:00 EVE time.

This isn't your fault and I know little about the process that makes the things you do work but the statics listed for J212812 are a U210 Losec and a M267 C3. The M267 C3 seems to be an error and the correct static is a T405 C4.
Cheers
I tried to confirm this but the only thing I could find was that it should perhaps only have a single static via U210. This static stuff can be tricky sometime... can anyone confirm this system's statics?

Tripwire news:
Some new features coming to Tripwire for EVE Phoebe on November 4th. For now all I'll say is one feature will be wormhole mass tracking, more will be announced soon.
Tripwire popularity hits new record: Last week ended in a record breaking Sunday with nearly 10k hits! http://puu.sh/caHfS/d63e6c8b03.png

Hello,
Sorry for the delayed reply, you caught me in the final stages of moving and I wasn't able to get on a PC.
Thanks and I'm glad you enjoy Tripwire, it has been my baby :) And never hesitate to give feedback, it is what Tripwire is built on - repeating feedback just lets me know how important a change is so I can prioritize my work.
Quote:1.) As an admin for my corporation, what can I actually do? Only manage corp wide masks atm. It is a feature that will get expanded upon but a security sensitive feature requires time.
Quote:2.) When "Follow my in-game system" is activated, the Pop-up asking for the signature, which should be updated, is closed almost immediately after poping up because the hole page reloads shortly after. Is there a fix, or am I doing something wrong? This is an issue I will try to fix by next patch (scheduled the week of Phoebe)
Quote:3.) Is there a guide to the auto-mapping functionality? Generally, it works well for me, but certain things I find confusing. I.e., it shouldn't auto-map a named signature when there are also one or more K162 signatures present. Example: Today I mapped a C3 that had a U210 static and multiple K162 (one of which lead to lowsec). When I jumped it, however, tripwire assumed that I jumped through the U210 and mapped it accordingly instead of asking for the signature to be updated. No guide yet - the auto-mapper feature is the most "alpha" or experimental code in all of Tripwire and is planned for a complete re-write, too many bugs to fix.
Quote:4.) If I'm not mistaken, the default life time of a non-wh signature is 24 hours, right? Is there any way for a user to change the default setting? No, 24 hours is the default for wormholes and 72 hours is the default for all other signatures. Wormholes life length cannot be changed atm - all other signatures have a editable "Life" field that can be modified at any time. I'm not sure what the future holds for this setting right now.
Quote:5.) This is most important to me: I am missing a feature that enables me to easily mass-delete signatures from tripwire, that are no longer there. Meaning, when I copy&paste all signatures from the signatures onto tripwire, new sigs should not only be added, but non-existing signatures should also be deleted. A button to toggle such behavior would be awesome! The best way to delete many signatures right now is to just keep clicking that "X", then hit the "Delete" button to delete them all. I want to add more ways to mass delete signatures and I like your idea - lets see what else people suggest.
Thank you very much! I've enjoyed working with community to develop Tripwire. Donations (including ISK) are always welcome and used to further development.

1.) TLS_FALLBACK_SCSV is enabled to prevent POODLE but they recommend disabling SSLv3 all together. 2.) Disabling SSLv3 prevents XP users from using the IGB, I assume you don't have this issue because you don't have as large of user base. All the more reason to find an alternative to the IGB soon.

The other one I liked is eveeye but it has many problems with views disappearing, instability, popups not working at times and slowness.
Tripwire instead is simple, it racks the holes and has a nice interface for signatures, pretty intuitive and easy.
Thanks! Credit goes to all the great user feedback, indispensable.
Zetsubou Gakusei wrote: One feature I miss is IGB synchronization with an outside browser, I hope this feature can come eventually, unless it+¼s already in but I can't figure how to activate it.
It is available already, simply open an IGB and OOG and log into the same Tripwire account.
Zetsubou Gakusei wrote: Anyway, good job guys, I'm really loving this tool although I wish there was some sort of minimap of systems around me in k-space and some way to know what class a wormhole type leads to before jumping (again, I could have missed that piece of info)
Chain map enhancements and k-space are on the road map, they are complex systems. Once you add a wormhole (leaving the Leads To empty) you can hover over the type in the Signatures list to get info on where it should lead to (or what the other side's type is if you have that entered down the road with a K162).

Right now I just put a comment in the notes section for alliance mates if I can't or don't wish to jump through to the other side for some reason. Except that those can't be seen unless the WH locus is selected and the person pays attention to the notes.
Thanks, we all love Tripwire!
In a perfect world there would be an easy way to do this... however there is a clever way:
1.) Add the wormhole (K162) and set the Leads To system to something fake like Jita. 2.) Go to the fake side (like Jita) and edit that side of the wormhole type to any of the frigate wh types. 3.) From either side, clear out the fake Leads To system (Jita).
Viola - a K162 frig hole without a Leads To system.

Derath Ellecon wrote:Daimian,
As others have said, kudos on a great tool. I had a few questions/comments after having used it for a very long time.
1. I believe you had mentioned changing the default time on sigs like gas sites etc to longer back when CCP changed it so that Sig ID's persist through downtime. This however hasn't seemed to be the case. Is there a place that can be configured as right now they have to be manually changed every time to longer than 24 hours, which is doable but extra work.
2. Is there a way to add some sort of functionality to be able to flag a WH as inactive? As an example, since I tend to work from home I often get in and scan before starting my day. I may scan down our static (which has a 16 hr lifespan) but I specifically don't warp to it if I am pretty sure it is fresh. The reason being that the bulk of my corpmates will get on after work and the timing is such that if I were to do so the static would be near EOL right when they want to play.
However, tripwire starts the clock as soon as I add it, so it shows EOL even though it is inactive. Manually changing the status back to stable doesn't seem to work very well, as it tends to flip right back to critical after I save. The only way around is to just delete it and re-create it, which again works but is suboptimal.
Also, any plans for the pretty but useless graph area? Ever since CCP removed WH statistics it is largely useless.
Thanks again!
About to release a hot patch so pasted sites default to 72 hours. Someday I'll add an option to change what they default to. Wormholes still default to 24 hours.
Give me a few days to think about "inactive" wormholes.... an interesting issue.
Well CCP FoxFour said he wanted to publish all killmails for each system for killboards. Once he finally adds that CREST end-point I plan to add back Ship Kills and Pod Kills in wormholes by using that end-point.
Thanks for the feedback!

I usually have tripwire open both on IGB and an outside browser and I have set the outside browser to follow the ingame system automatically. If I am in a wormhole with a bunch of K162 and I enter one I get the popup asking me which one I entered (90% of the times I forget which one it is but that's not the issue I'm talkin about, what about a button to tell the app which one I'm about to enter?), the problem is that I don't get much time to choose the signature because the page reloads to the new system after a few seconds anyway, leaving the hole unlinked. Right now the only solution is disabling the auto-follow option before jumping into the new system but perhaps could the page wait until the hole is actually selected before jumping to the new system?
Working on a fix for this, hope to delay the auto-follow page change until ANY open dialog window is closed. Expect a fix soon.

To make an OOG (external) browser follow your in-game jumps you will need to have an Tripwire logged into the same Tripwire account with IGB as OOG and with the OOG turn on the "auto-follow" feature located in the top bar. You should see the name of your current in-game system and next to that the ">>" button which toggles this feature.
Your signatures are stored for whatever time frame you set them to or what the max life of that wormhole type should be. If you don't use Tripwire for a few days all wormholes will be auto-deleted because none last longer then 48 hours.
Tripwire isn't going work well to track your entire journey in one large map, I can't even think of how you would do it.

This includes the 100 new systems + Thera and all wormhole effects.
Only missing data is the class for the 25 "Frigate" wormholes (Class 1-3) and Thera and all static connections.
Classes are missing because those systems have a different class then any other wormhole and I have yet to know what to call them.
I will try my best to add statics as they are reported. Hope you enjoy Rhea!

id be much happier using and requesting others to use this tool if i can be confident that the data stored is not being duplicated off somewhere and that i can delete data stored on the server related to my users (and possibly have the server secure wipe free space in periods of low server usage)
i know thats may possibly a fair amount of feature requests but i think itd go a long way to making security conscious users feel happier in trying out and ultimately using and requesting others to use your service.
Hello and thanks for the kind words :)
Part of the corp admin feature of Tripwire will be the ability to oversee corp mates accounts, when these features are added depends on what the majority of people are asking for.
The requests I get for changes, features or fixes directly impacts what I work on next. Sounds like voodoo but I'd like to get a system in place so there is more visibility regarding this process.

Tripwire Patch Released!
A new feature with this patch is the addition of EvE-Scout's Thera chain via a new chain map button.
EvE-Scout is the first candidate for a new Tripwire API system, they are using Tripwire for scanning and then updating the EvE-Scout website via a Tripwire API call built just for them. They are also allowing all Tripwire users the ability to see their hard work.

Thanks Hidden!
FYI what I use the donations for is the hardware and services behind Tripwire. Right now we are building a brand new server via Digital Ocean that will include SSD and a new database setup. Also adding CloudFlare CDN support. All this should make Tripwire much faster. Additionally we will be changing to a new domain with the new servers. This includes new SSL certificates also.
All this will have to come out of my pocket if not enough donations are received. If every person using Tripwire this very second donated $10 that would be nearly $2,500 and last for years. Even $1 donated enough times makes a big difference. Please Donate what you can to keep Tripwire running

I'm guessing there is a javascript error because the home system should be highlighted blue because he is viewing it in Tripwire. I will have to take a look at it when I get home from work so I can view the logs for the IGB.
Try to contact me in-game tonight or next time you see me online.

Some new features already in final testing on Galileo and will be included in the next Tripwire patch....
- Chain map grid lines (including coloring for flared) Screenshot
- Paste signatures notice click-able link to auto-delete signatures not included in paste
- Chain map collapse section by dbl-click system fully functional
- Notes section auto-linking urls
Additional changes still in the works for the next patch:
- Chain map renaming of every system & bookmark (by class or type)
- Chain map fix to show the same system multiple times (wormhole loops)
- Chain map tabs to view multiple chains via specified system
- New built-in tutorial to walk new users through features
Possibly more features & fixes. This patch should be out in less then 2 weeks and as always you can check them out now on the Galileo (SiSi) version of Tripwire.

. This is the only feature that was missing that, in my opinion, would completely obsolete siggy. I can't wait for that update so I can convince my corp to move to tripwire. Oh another thing: right now it's not possible to define in what security a k162 leads to even though it is shown in every wormhole's description in game, would you consider adding this capability in order to better distinguish wormholes and make the auto-assignment more accurate?
You can define where a K162 leads to by using "Class-1" or "Null-Sec" for the leads to system.
I will be adding a built-in tutorial soon which will help reveal all these hidden features.

Not currently. I will be expanding how the mask system works in the patch after next. Things like the ability to copy data from another mask or maybe even linking masks together are some of the goodies I'm considering.
But as always I listen to feedback, so if everyone wants a specific feature then I will do it no matter what I feel about it :)

I didn't check thoroughly but I noticed that the connection lines do show how much (known) mass has transited through a wormhole. They aren't easy to click or hover (perhaps they could use a bit more "sensible" area), anyway something that could be useful would be some sort of "calculator" to determine what it would take to collapse a hole. Something like "jump 3 more times with MWD on" in the description of the link.
Almost a year ago Tripwire did have the uservoice service, but was removed from lack of use and users complaining it was getting in the way. I'll consider adding it agian.
You can click on the chain lines to see mass travels, but it is probably not the best method and I'm considering ways to improve it.

Good news everyone, I am nearly ready to release the next Tripwire patch! Expect to see it by Tuesday for the EVE Proteus patch.
Here are some teaser screen shots: Customization of background image Chain Map tabs and grid lines w/ flare highlighting
And here are the key changes:
- Chain Map tabs w/ ability to title them which renames the system also (drag to re-order)
- Chain Map collapse per system (dbl-click, saves per tab and remains collapsed even after deleting chain and re-adding)
- Chain Map Mass tracking change from clicking on lines to right-click menu with more details (right-click system)
- Chain Map systems can now all be renamed via right-click menu (top-most system name from tab name)
- Chain Map code optimizations results in 1/15th the processing time to render!
- Chain Map code fixes to remove many limitations like showing the same connection twice (i.e. loops)
- Chain Map line guide added w/ flare highlighting
- New and improved UI Icons and standardization
- Comments now auto-parse urls
- Ability to change the background image via options (host must support SSL or image won't load)
- Paste signature detected notice now has link to delete missing signatures
Additional changes and fixes will come as I finalize this patch so additional features may still make it in.

As an added security precaution as suggested I will be adding an Account Status mask requirement on the API login method and the user registration.
The Account Status mask is rarely ever used and doesn't contain extremely sensitive data: http://wiki.eve-id.net/APIv2_Account_AccountStatus_XML
Also keep in mind Tripwire never stores API keys so please delete them after use.

In the next patch you will be able to collapse the Thera chain by double clicking on it in the chain map. It will then stay collapsed for that tab forever, even after deleting all wormholes leading to it and then days later adding one again. Hope that will do the trick for your, otherwise maybe we can come up with another solution?

You are talking about the Auto-Mapper feature. It has a list of known k-space connections and will never automatically add those connections (manual way is to add them as a wormhole with the type of GATE instead of K162).
It is also an ALPHA feature and still needs a complete re-code (soon). Try to enter the wormhole type before jumping initially or limit the # of wormholes without a connection yet so it can assume only 1 possible connection.

If you are experiencing problems with connecting to Tripwire, disable IPV6. There is a server conflict that is causing pure IPV6 clients to not connect to the server.
We are already nearly complete with building a brand new server so hopefully in a few days we can go live and avoid having extended server downtime trying to fix the IPV6 issue.
This does seem to be a very limited problem.

It was removed in favor of the new tabs system. Goto your home system in Tripwire (view it) and click the + icon in the top-left corner of the chain map. This will make a new tab and the "home" or top system will always be what the tab was created with.
This new way allows you to switch between multiple home chains quickly

Taxt Sairotra wrote:These issues have NOT been resolved. Tripwire continues to act ******** when using automapper and will replace already mapped wormholes with those just jumped through. I appreciate the list of new features by the developer but goddamn it has been very frustrating these past few days using this tool while it is handicapped.
Sorry to hear that, but the only other report I have received about the Auto-Mapper not working like it did before the patch since a fix was pushed was just this morning from Lazerhawks and it was described almost to the letter of what you have listed which was never previously reported. I actually don't play EVE anymore so reporting issues is critical for me to fix them, getting upset before I even have been notified does neither of us any good. Give me a chance to help and I promise you won't be disappointed.
So the issue seems to be with the new ability to rename a system, even if you do not use it the Auto-Mapper is using this new feature to rename the connection (the actual system it leads to is still the same - click on it and you will see).
A quick fix for now is to right-click the affected system in the chain map and go to rename, then blank out the name to restore the true system name. I will have this issue fixed first thing after work today, which should be in about 6 hours now.

You sir have discovered I do have limits as this last patch had to be cut short despite my wishes. This sometimes happens and in this last patch it was because of the sheer massive code changes were pilling up which is why it was also a buggy patch that I am still releasing hotfixes for.
I do still have the auto bookmark naming feature at the top of my list and is now part of the focus for the next patch I am about to begin codding. This next patch will include a complete revamp in how signatures are manually added/edited and should include all supporting methods including the Auto-Mapper and Mass Adding via paste.
Right now I am building a brand new server because the current one is nearly at capacity with almost 500 active users which is about 100 hits per second, each for data unique to that user - impressive for a $20 a month server. Also a new domain name and SSL certificates and a daily cloud backup. CloudFlare is also setup on the new server to help improve load times and offload the serving of static data to CDN servers.
So for now I would not even use the class bookmark naming feature.
For anyone out there who wishes to help me make Tripwire better, I am vary interested in help. The most help comes in the form of public support (helping others use Tripwire), feature research and discussions, advertising, UI concepts and of course ISK and money donations.

Thanks for the feedback! I do appreciate it and value it (even repeated feedback lets me know how important something is).
The way Tripwire is showing EVE-Scout.com's Thera chain is going to be changed, and relatively soon too.
"???" for wormhole type is there for a reminder that the information is needed to be entered. After speaking with you we found out that some code needs to be added so you can more easily highlight the field contents for faster editing.
The ability to rename wormholes is very new and after some feedback I will be making some improvements soon :)
The new notes section editor initially loads slow because it is not loaded when Tripwire first loads - I will be turning on more caching so it won't need to be completely loaded every time.
Bugs are always a high concern - along with security and stability. I understand that wormhole corps depend on Tripwire to survive.
Finally... Thank you for your compliments! I understand your concern, but I have no incentive or motivation to compromise anyone's privacy. I do not give out any information that is not already publicly available, if at all. The level of interaction I have with my users are instructional and in troubleshooting.

In addition what happens with any notes put in the system? Will they follow me over or if not is there a way to get those out of the system?
Every 3 minutes Tripwire performs a public API query on all characters registered for Tripwire to check if they changed corp and update as needed. Since Tripwire does not story anyone's API keys you don't have to worry about that, what corp your in is public info and can be pulled from EVE API without an API key.
Actually your notes stay with the Tripwire mask you use. If you use your private character API then your notes will follow you forever. If you used the corp mask then you will lose those when you change corps.

Tripwire source code is now in a private git repo. This means that I can make Tripwire fully open source at the flip of a switch.
This makes it much easier for me to work on several features at the same time while only releasing the ones that are ready. Also makes it so I can revert changes if a major bug is found.
Why the delay? Simply put it required a bit of time that I had to take away from development, when you have a list of hundreds of changes to make, spending 1-2 hours on something with no real client impact can be hard.

WOW... you need to update. Win XP is one thing but IE8??? SSLv3 is no longer a safe encryption and should be unchecked. FireFox uses its own settings unlike IE and Chrome which both use the Internet Properties settings.
I'm sorry but I cannot support PCs that are that out of date, it would require me to enable SSL ciphers that have known security exploits and put everyone's data at risk.

Looks like same issue one other is having now...
The issue is with CloudFlare SSL, not sure if I will be able to fix it but in the mean time you should be able to use https://galileo.eve-apps.com it doesn't use CloudFlare for server static files like CSS and JS.

Ah, yea - that doesn't work because your version of Windows doesn't support SNI... so only 1 SSL cert per IP and Tripwire and Galileo are from the same IP.
What a mess....

There are some strange session locking issues going on which will cause your Tripwire client from updating, this typically is happening around the top of the hour.
A quick fix is just to refresh the page, I advise you to keep doing this randomly to ensure your Tripwire is in sync while I fix this issue.
I will post here when the issue has been fixed.

You are correct - I have switched off CloudFlare and www.eve-apps.com no longer points to Tripwire (you must use tripwire.eve-apps.com).
CloudFlare was causing issues with images, css and js files not loading for some because of CloudFlare's SSL. Even after upgrading to the $20 a month plan it didn't fix all the issues so now some users using old browsers will again have issues because they do not support a single IP having multiple domains and SSL certs. I basically had to pick the lesser of two "evils" for now while I work out something with CloudFlare, another CDN or something else since Digital Ocean doesn't allow multiple IPv4 IPs.

I am scanning down this C3, but when i copy scanned down sigs (gas site f.e.) into tripwire, it doesn't update? it DOES show the 'paste detected' blue popover, but no sigs are entered.
I think it has to do with the fact that the same C3 was part of chain, and that chain collapsed (scanned that chain yesterday) so the C3 is now 'standalone' and Trip doesn't recognize it or something.
Thanks - I do not have a public issue tracker, not yet at least.
If you have issues with a sig paste working correctly please send it to me in a mail with what isn't working. Sometimes data is ordered differently or I have to adapt to another language.

Minor Tripwire bugfix patch released and a new Tripwire server connection status notification system added. http://puu.sh/goiH4/a31df7ee0c.jpg
When refresh with server fails you will get the red notification while the connection continues to fail, but gets replaced by a green 5 second message once a connection is re-established.
This was a quick add because of the session server issues I have been battling and sometimes causing everyone to get logged out and needed a way to notify them.

@Mussah thanks for trying to help! I kept getting tied up and forgetting to respond.
There have been a few other reports of issues with settings not working like they should, I believe it is partly how Tripwire tries to save and load browser cookie settings first and then falling back to databased stored.
The issue with this system is it is hard to know which is being used and sometimes you want your other browser to have that new tab you created and not have to add it to each browser.
So the patch after the coming one will include a settings re-factoring which I will be looking for feedback from you all on how the settings should work in Tripwire. I will let you know in a few weeks

One of the big changes you can try now is Tripwire no longer reloads the entire page when changing your system, a feature long overdue. Galileo is stable and can be used instead of regular Tripwire but I expect some minor bugs so please report them so we can get them all fixed before I release the full patch!

OK so the bug didn't turn out to be an actual bug really...
if your auto-mapper doesn't work or causes duplicates... and/or the auto-follow doesn't change your viewing system....
#1 rule to follow... only turn on the auto-mapping ( A ) and auto-follow ( >> ) on one browser. This means if you have the IGB open but use say Chrome out of game.. don't turn them on in both.
Otherwise both browser might do things at the same time and the server is left to sort out things and the browsers don't reflect/update correctly until a page refresh.

@Sonny Well the only change I can think of that could have any affect on how the signatures are stored was changing the signature MySQL table from InnoDB to MYISAM to improve performance.
I am curious as to why new systems appearing on the right to left have any affect on how you bookmark your wormholes?
Also for your database techies out there, the signatures table was originally MYISAM and switched to InnoDB about 4-6 months ago in favor of performance improvements - doesn't seem the table benefits from the InnoDB engine.

OK that makes sense, there are just so many different ways people do their wormhole bookmarking it is hard to even hear about them let alone know them all.
Sorry that an update broke the way you use Tripwire - I will gladly work with you to remedy this as soon as possible, I'm always trying to provide a bug free stable experience but that isn't always possible. Keep in mind I don't have a testing/bug finding group to fully go through every release, I try to announce when coming changes are on Galileo (like SiSi) so that people can test it and give me last minute feedback before I push the changes live.
I have changed the signature table back to InnoDB, let me know if that had an effect on the problem.
Also I'm always open to talk about how to improve/fix things, feel free to share your thoughts on how to improve kspace source wormhole scanning.

I am working on an update that will allow you to change the name of any system (even ones that have no "Leads To").
Have you tried using the chain tab option "K-Space"? It is for showing all chains that have an active kspace entrance. Also with the new ability to exclude EVE-Scout's Thera chain, it is a little bit better now.

@Sonny I will see what I can do about the duplicates and such
I am not sure what I can do about the second tab row - HTML is still very limiting with advanced UI designs which is made even worse when I have to make everything work with the IGB (which is Chrome 3 BTW)
Also looking into the chain map ordering with placing newer wormholes on the right is actually still not working consistently - I can fix this by also ordering wormholes, can you confirm this?
Also creating tickets helps me keep organized with what needs done and not overlooking bugs. https://bitbucket.org/daimian/tripwire/issues

I've also run into issues with ORDER BY on MySQL acting oddly when paired with, say, calculated model properties in Django. Also MySQL can't do DISTINCT ON queries, which is enough for me to avoid it. personally. I've worked with PostgreSQL and much prefer MySQL and the performance is very dependent on what your doing for either. Also MySQL is an Oracle product, not a bad company. Do you feel Tripwire is not performing well?
Also I will get the Wiki setup tonight and get in touch with you.. I really want to get it going and get thing documented.

Wiki is enabled - fully open to public for now. You will need an account to write however but do not need permissions from me. https://bitbucket.org/daimian/tripwire/wiki
Will see how things go - if need be I will lock it down. Also I am using the Bitbucket service for source code control and issue tracker so it makes sense to also do the wiki even if there are better solutions out there.

Just released another patch full of fixes and more...
Added collapse toggle to the chain map context menu. This lets you control the size of your chain map per tab, each tab has it's own collapse settings that are saved with your normal settings.
Fixed several bugs regarding the use of "GATE" wormholes used for finer control of your chain map. "GATE" types now are set on both sides - no more K162 on the other side. They are also set for infinite life so they will never be auto-removed.
Adding/Editing signatures now auto-fills the ID with "???" when tabbing past it when leaving it blank. Also you won't get a duplicate signature ID error message.
The signature list now has a special font for the signature ID column so the IDs are always evenly spaced. This makes it a bit easier on the eyes when there are IDs like WWW and III
Several random bugs have also been found and squashed - I won't bore you with details but you probably never noticed them anyways.
Enjoy and thanks for using Tripwire :)

Crowd funding nearly at 30%!
Just a heads up on what I am working on right now that this crowd funding will help me finish and then some... Complete re-design of the adding/editing sigs dialog so you can edit both sides and have even more control Admin tools including active users and blocking characters - even signature history to restore deleted/modified sigs Mask overhaul including more control over sharing and even switch masks with a single click (view signatures for 1 mask but notes or chain from a completely different mask)
Plus so much more minor tweaks you all have been asking for!
Meeting the funding goals means all these will get added in the next few weeks! https://tripwire.eve-apps.com/raise.php

Just made a few changes to fix duplicate signatures when rapidly changing systems and caching to help speed up system changing.
I am in the process of re-organizing the Tripwire source repository to make it easier to work on (no it is still private but I am looking for help). Will also be performing some server and database maintenance today and tomorrow during the off time - expect Tripwire to be sluggish at times but no downtime is expected.
If you haven't noticed I have been focusing on fixes over features lately - however I have been still working on some major features that are coming. Will also somehow get motivated to getting documentation going.

Noob question: Say I'm in a wormhole with 3 different K162 wormhole signatures. I warp to each signature, select show info, and find that one leads to high sec, and the other two lead to unknown parts of space. If i add all three signatures in tripwire as K162, I can't find a way to indicate which K162 signature leads to highsec. Is there a way to specify under "Leads to" in tripwire "Highsec - Unknown" or "Another Wormhole - Unknown"?

Thanks a lot. Do you have an idea of the cause? My experience (running on OSX MBP laptop, works flawlessly in one location [using Time Warner cable] but completely falls apart on another [using google fiber]) makes me think it is a subtle problem. Let me know if there is any more information I can provide to assist in the debugging process. Tripwire is a great tool!
Lets see how things go the rest of the week. There were a few minor server updates plus some way overdue maintenance and reboots. There was a minor glitch with login session storage because of memcache that I fixed tonight too.
Keep in mind Tripwire uses some complex and newer security standards compared to most of the major sites out there - I have been battling to keep things compatible because of it.

Your updates didn't seem to address the issues I was seeing WRT "error syncing with server", I still have constant problems on one ISP and perfect functionality on another. Since it seems to be based on what ISP i'm using I'm guessing it's an issue with some of the security stuff you've mentioned.
Would it be possible to also serve the site over HTTP in some debug mode? similar to insecure=true. I can't see any of the traffic in wireshark due to it being HTTPS.
Alternatively is there a way to enable logging via console.log? That will output in the games log files I believe.
Let me know if there is a way to provide more information as Tripwire has become a very valuable tool.
Have you tried giving Galileo a try? (Galileo is like EVE's SiSi - a test server that shares the same data) http://galileo.eve-apps.com Galileo uses less complex content distribution and login session management, but basically the same security features.

Currently it is very random if the error pops up... sometimes its within a few seconds of the page loading, sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes 10.. etc. After the error occurs it seems like your polling stops and a refresh is required to get it to work again. Is there anyway to continue to retry after an error has occurred (potentially with a longer time out or something) ? This way when a bad sync happens there's still an opportunity for it to fix itself.
It actually continues to try (or rather should depending on browser). I think it is set to try every 30 seconds and will report a successful re-connect in bright green.
I am starting to wonder if this has to do with the extra security check I added a few weeks ago that verifies the login IP address for the session remains the same, otherwise it logs you out without warning. There should be no reason you IP address changes but worth checking if it is part of the cause.

You spoke - I listened. Tripwire is going full open source this week! I will continue to host and code Tripwire so nothing much will change for most of you other then suddenly getting a boost in development.
I will be getting the source code repo (Bitbuck git repo) in order and basic code commenting going. Also posting the basic database structure and a quick guide on how to get things rolling.
If you plan to host your own copy of Tripwire on your servers all you will need is: * Apache or NGINX (currently I use NGINX) with PHP (recommend PHP-FPM) * CRON or some method to execute PHP scripts on a schedule * MySQL or similar database that works fully with PHP PDO to avoid re-coding
You will not need a powerful server.. a 512MB, single core VPS could host Tripwire and handle about 50 active users. You could get Tripwire running on a shared hosted server like GoDaddy but performance would not be consistent to provide smooth performance for more then 5-15 active users. I use VPS host Digital Ocean (https://www.digitalocean.com/)
I will get more details out to those who want to host their own Tripwire or help contribute to the project in the next few days.

Just pushed some QOL code changes to the test Tripwire called Galileo - feel free to test and comment back or just give us your thoughts... https://galileo.eve-apps.com
Changes:
- Added ability to change your username via settings just like password
- Added QOL shortcuts to comments widget...
- Double click comment text (or area) to go to edit mode
- Editor now has focus right away
- Delete confirmation now displays in the center of your comments widget instead of page
- Escape to cancel (won't work IGB because it opens game menu... thoughts?)
- Enter to save -- shift-enter to do a new line -- (also doesn't work IGB oddly... thoughts?)
The last two keyboard shortcuts are the ones I really would like feedback on... Escape to cancel editing/adding a comment (doesn't work IGB). Also Ctrl-Escape is used by Win10 for other things already :( Enter to save a comment (also doesn't work IGB). Shift-enter to go to a new line... open to suggestions.
Again this is on Galileo only for testing - I would like feedback before I push into live Tripwire.

I added a fix more fixes... I would list them but nobody usually cares, if they were related to any issues added to the issue tracker I marked them resolved otherwise lets just pretend nothing was wrong in the first place ;)
A change with the comments section keyboard shortcuts.... alt-s to save a comment now (still interferes with a default keyboard shortcut for EVE but it was the best we could come up with)
At least they all work well out of game...
Enjoy!

I have finally added the admin panel so many have requested, its just 1 view right now but more are coming.. checkout the screen shot http://puu.sh/m1Dml/65a052ee8f.png
The new feature called "Mask Admin" can be accessed via a new icon in the top-right corner. It will enable/disable depending on the active mask your on (permissions based).
Basically if you created a mask you will have access to the Mask Admin panel, otherwise if it is a corp mask made by your corp and your registered as a corp admin you will also have access to Mask Admin.
If you had to search and join a mask you won't have access to the Mask Admin.
Enjoy and as always I welcome feedback

I think we had solved those old issues. Some of it was because I was using 4096 bit SSL certificates which seems sometimes the IGB can't do a proper handshake fast enough before it times out and get an SSL error. I have switched to using the standard 2048 bit.
The biggest issues others have is when they have their WAN IP address change, if your WAN IP changes while your logged into Tripwire it kicks you out silently and you would just start getting sync errors messages.
I am actually using Safari on my Macbook Pro while I type this and not having any issues.
Let me know if its still giving you trouble - I will never stop trying to fix issues like this.

Thak Dallocort wrote:I see today's dev post about ending the IGB by October 2016. Will tripwire be able to be used without being logged into the IGB?
Thanks.
This has been a major concern for me as well...
Why: Money, yes the age old argument. I work freelance on the side now to earn enough money to provide for my family which has been my priority lately (also why I have been very MIA this year). This freelance work is taking the time I used to dedicate to working on Tripwire, and I need this income now more than even since I am getting married July 23rd and my wife will be going back to college this fall if we can make enough money that is.
Lately I have had to ask for donations to even just keep the Tripwire servers running (~$60/month).
I DO have some progress adapting Tripwire to use CREST but it is far from complete but it IS AVAILABLE to the public via an open source branch on BitBucket. This still requires at least 100 hours of work so I just don't see any way for me to complete this by October.
Some have suggested I raise funds to compensate me the time ($20-30 per hour). I have tried this before by selling t-shirts which only ended up raising about $200 after costs and not counting the hours spent packing and shipping and running everything. So if this is something the community wants it will need to be a drive someone else runs.
As it stands atm I am planning to shut Tripwire servers down this fall and discontinue the project :(
Thanks for everyone's support

Daimian,
If half the current user base paid $5 a year for the tool, would that cover your costs / time?
Currently the average is 2,300 unique users every single day use Tripwire, if each donated $5 a year it would be absolutely massive to the project!

Holy cow! I never expected to receive this much support <3
tldr; I am NOT going to shut down Tripwire servers.
I have received enough donations in 48 hours to run the servers for nearly 8 months. This is thanks to only a handful of individuals who donated $100 each and Wingspan who blew me away with $250. But don't think your $5 donations are not enough, every single tiny bit helps directly keep the servers paid for!
For those interested the servers are run via Digital Ocean using 4 $5 clustered servers with a $20 database server. Additionally I am required to pay for CloudFlare CDN which is an additional $20 (free version doesn't work with IGB because of SSL support). So once IGB support is removed the server costs will go down to just $40 a month.
I appreciate the offers to host Tripwire, but for security sake I like to keep that under only my control. Anyone is more than welcome to fire up another public version of Tripwire, there are several private copies out there now.
I will address CREST support and future dev efforts this weekend after I look into some funding sites to use.
Thank you all again for your support! It really feels nice to be appreciated :D

I'm aware that this could be a corp security issue and nothing to do with tripwire.
Tripwire checks anyone logged in every 2 minutes if their character corp has changed (the character they registered the account with). It doesn't require an API key since a character's corp history is public.
Usually this type of thing tends to be someone else either using Tripwire incorrectly for your corp or someone doing it on purpose. Sometimes it can be simply the Tripwire system cleaning up dead wormholes because someone didn't setup the wormhole correctly or altered it in a way to make it's lifespan incorrect.
What I want to do is provide an API point to poll for these kinds of records - I have the work started but need a lot more time. Please consider donating or recommending a donation goal to be created if this is something you really feel it needed.

The CREST funding goal has been met!!
Extra special thanks goes out to HeWhoShallNotBe Named & Cleopathra who donated $1,000... yes, you read that correctly!
Thanks to them and many other who donated Tripwire is going to keep running and get the needed CREST development so in-game data no longer requires the IGB.
I will be getting development rolling right away.
For those curious what I am going to do with all these donations... a small portion will be set aside for when monthly donations don't generate enough to pay for the servers. A large part of it will go to help with wedding expenses - yup I am getting married July 23rd!
Again thank you HeWhoShallNotBe Named and Cleopathra, no amount of thanks is enough.

CREST location to replace the IGB requirement is going well. After speaking with a few fellow 3rd party devs including Fuzzy Steve and a few CCP devs I believe we have a plan of attack (designs) and will begin writing code. The CREST location end-point should provide rapid enough data so even quick jump+jump-backs will be able to be detected (~5 second caching).
Design concept: Within the Tripwire settings, under the account section where you see the character you registered with will include a toggle to enable tracking you ingame via CREST (which will require a EVE SSO login, completely separate from the EVE SSO login used to get into Tripwire). This also will mean we need to add the ability to finally have multiple characters per Tripwire account.
Now an additional concept is the ability to enable continuous monitoring without the need to even have Tripwire open at all which would also remove the need to enable tracking every time you re-open Tripwire. This will require testing before it is something we can actually do.
Please feel free to provide your feedback and ideas, and don't forget I am available to Tweetfleet slack channel #tripwire-dev

This is all thanks to the awesome funding from earlier to get this added before October when the IGB is removed.

It was a limitation of the IGB - it had MANY because it was Chrome 3... currently I am running Chrome 53 lol.

Sorry for the delayed response... No you cannot reset the stats each month. A monthly feature will require a change in how some of the data is tracked since some are just tallies and not dated.
Corp members who leave will be removed the moment they login again. This is because there are nearly 50,000 characters in Tripwire and I cannot check that many character's corps so the check only is performed on logged in people. They are also kicked instantly and no page reload is required. This corp check is performed every 3-5 minutes

Tripwire update, this work has been performed by Belriel Klaedin, Rin Arji, Aurorah Akika, and Kraesk - they were kind enough to share the code with me to bring these changes to everyone so please thank them! They may be sharing more soon.
Multi-character tracking via CREST is now possible! You will see an option to authorize additional accounts just below the existing one. This feature does work with auto-mapper but the current system will only track the Tripwire account character. Also until the feature to permanently add characters to a single Tripwire account - multi-char tracking only lasts until you close Tripwire for >20min since it is a temporary tracking option.
Set Destination/Waypoint is back again! This even works with the multi-char tracking.
Fixed a date format conflict with the system comments.
Enjoy!

Released some code today... no new features or anything...
- Fixed many bugs
- CREST code cleaned up and fixed a few things
- ~100+ lines of IGB code removed
- Rewrote several SQL queries to improve performance
- Added processing time monitoring to several calls
- Fixed multiple PHP errors showing in the log files
Also if you haven't been keeping tabs on my Twitter feed I have been spending MANY hours the last few weeks battling server lag and connectivity issues, almost ALL of these issues should be gone - future releases like today will further fix these issues.
In an effort to fight the increased load from so many concurrent users (over 40k accounts now) I have added a new server node and upgraded the load balancer. Tripwire now runs on a cluster of 6 servers with a total of 8 CPUs & 6GB RAM. Also some configuration changes have made it easier to upgrade servers or add more to the cluster without any service outages.
Server costs have gone from $40/month to $60 - thank you for your donations that pay for these servers!

Tripwire patch day! Some QOL fixes, undo/redo rewrite, and SQL improvements are now live.
Changes:
- Signature age is no longer reset when changing to/from a wormhole type
- Bug where wormhole life length will sometimes change when editing the connecting side is now fixed
- Auto-bookmark naming based on system class is now more consistent
- Fixed a bug where you couldn't select a character when registering or logging in
- Undo/Redo rewritten, now each browser tab has it's own undo/redo history (lost when closing tab)
- The landing page has been updated
Note on Undo/Redo: It doesn't seem like an improvement but moving the code from server side to client side adds a massive performance boost in server response time. It also makes expanding this feature much easier down the road - let me know. Finally it paves the way to the new signature add/edit abilities coming later and it is now possible to keep long term history on signatures (new admin features to come).
For those who host your own Tripwire servers: Merging in these code changes might be difficult if you have custom changes to signatures, you will likely have to deal with them because future changes will likely require some of this code. I have also just created a new Tripwire database import script downloadable from https://bitbucket.org/daimian/tripwire/downloads (you won't need the crest.sql file it is included). It shouldn't be difficult to move your current data over into this new database as no major structural changes were made.
SQL Changes:
- Multiple table indexes added
- Improved the signature delete trigger (major improvement to deleting signatures)
- Added a "cleanJumps" event to clean the jumps table out of old data

and here I am again with another Tripwire patch...
CREST support has been removed, EVE SSO is still available and ESI has been added which is what CCP will be replacing the old xml API and CREST with eventually.
You WILL have to add characters to track again, sorry this is a must.
So what has changed?
- Adding and removing in-game tracking is now easier, but pretty similar
- You can now choose which character you're tracking to use in Tripwire (highlighted orange)
- In-game tracking in Tripwire is now optional, select the active character to toggle (highlighted orange)
- All characters added are tracked at the same time, no limits track 100 if you dare
- Tracking is now stickier - characters you add won't go away unless you remove them
- Tracking is now just like it was with the IGB, ships and all (Mass tracking is back, pods shouldn't automap)
- Tracking is now done based on Tripwire user, meaning you can track the same characters for different accounts if you want
Additionally:
- Pasted signature life setting is now honored again
- Pasted wormholes no longer reset the signature age
- Edited wormholes should now always keep their proper wormhole type based life length
- Performance increases with removal of old code and new ESI support
All these changes mean we needed some database changes - I'll be posting these later tonight for anyone updating their copy of Tripwire.

The Tripwire outage tonight was caused by a memcache session server failing in one of Tripwire's 3 node servers.
This caused nearly 1/3 of the active users (~680) to get logged out of Tripwire and they began seeing the sync error message appear, most simply waited for the sync issue to go away.
As time went on the other 2 memcache session servers progressively became overloaded from session start, session destroy commands which cause more users to get logged out and add to the load.
At this point Tripwire users were basically DDoSing the servers and I began taking servers down and trying to bring them back in various configurations.
The servers were simply getting overwhelmed by users still sitting on the Tripwire page waiting for the sync error to go away when they had been logged out completely and only a log-in would fix it. Within just moments of starting the servers they were quickly brought to a crawl with failed session attempts.
Finally I decided to try changing the code so not so many session calls were made when a users was logged out, this finally allowed me to get the servers back on their feet again.
Very late night for me and I am exhausted... passing out now.. ZZzzzzzzzzzzz

- Updated jQuery & multiple plugins (performance improvements)
- Fixed JS errors from age countdown
This patch is mostly about updating libraries & plugins that will be required for fixes and features coming down the road.
Additionally, testing database load on keeping long term history has gone well and additional long term history will be expanded upon in the near future to help expand corp admin reports and tools.
Servers have also received some tweaks to help keep Tripwire fast and stable.

Does this include issues with EoL holes? Setting a hole to Critical mass AND time would set a timer for ~12 hours or so, not the expected 4 hours due to the time destabilization
Nope, that was not what that fix was for. I will look into that issue and try and get a hotfix out soon - thanks for letting me know about it.

Another Tripwire patch day:
- SQL query re-writes (Chain map layout will change slightly)
- J015092 statics changed from J244, Z060 to N110, Z060
- Flare toggling fix
- ESI updates per CCP changes, goodbye OPTIONS calls
The undo/redo feature is not restoring the leads to - this is being addressed in a future release.
As for frequent "ESI connection issues" messages, it is there to let you know when Tripwire is having trouble talking with EVE - if it becomes annoying simply remove your tracking characters for awhile. I have been working with CCP to help improve Tripwire to ESI communication but it is a very new API, so please be patient.
You also may notice Tripwire is a little faster lately - this is thanks to some server configuration changes and MySQL database optimizations.
Forked Tripwire's: The database changes are still ongoing, please cherry-pick from this release as the SQL query optimizations require named indexes (avoid this commit or make fake indexes).

Victor Saame wrote:Anybody else having this weird, but really annoying problem of having random k-space connections you have visited (and temporarily marked as favourites / starred) keeping their status as favourite systems even after removing them from favourites?
What I mean is when I click 'Add favourite systems to chain' by clicking that star-icon just above your chain, it now shows how many jumps it is to 10+ totally unnecessary K-space systems, when it only should be showing the usual Jita, Amarr etc. (which I HAVE as a favourites)...
These random systems are obviously no longer starred, and if I try to mark them as favourites once again, they appear as duplicates when looking at favourite systems in the chain...
This first occured maybe about a few months ago.
Very strange issue - it may not be something we can track down and fix easily so it might be just faster to reset your Tripwire settings. If you go into the Tripwire settings there is an option next to "Save" to reset - just be sure to go back and "Save" after because the reset is temporary incase it doesn't fix your issue.
There are plans to re-write the code behind the Tripwire options that store settings such as your favorite systems because it is still setup to work with the in-game browser (which is gone)

Tripwire release today includes the following changes:
- EVE Scout Thera wormhole signatures are now visible to everyone (read-only)
- Tripwire layout is now saved per browser (you can have a desktop layout & a mobile device layout)
- System change now updates the URL (reload after selecting a different system no longer takes you back to Jita)
- System search in the top bar no longer reloads the page
- Chain map tabs are now easier to click (tiny delay added to drag-n-drop reorder feature)
- Tripwire options fixes, IGB support removal
- Autocomplete no longer goes behind the dialog
- Chain map tab switching fixes
- Removed some deprecated code
The Tripwire wiki is finally starting to progress thanks to Ashley Traynor - more on that soon!

This made my day today! <3
Sig ID can only be auto-populated by copy & pasting scan results into Tripwire. Sadly there is no way to auto-populate Type ID.

Thanks for your feedback Beetle! I appreciate your kind words :)
Responses to your questions: 1.) This is getting added along with the ability to enter full signature IDs (optional) AAA-123. About half way done w/ code 2.) System effects can be updated, not sure if they are in code or loaded from DB - hopefully someone can make a ticket and look into this. https://bitbucket.org/daimian/tripwire/issues?status=new&status=open
3.) We are slowly working on this by adding to a wiki, eventually I will add this info to Tripwire itself. Something like Discord would be nice but hopefully we can get there. https://bitbucket.org/daimian/tripwire/wiki/browse/
4.) Mass tracking is already a feature and can be checked by right-clicking a wormhole system in your chain map and going to the "Mass" menu option. Its not perfect since I cannot get current ship fitting or active modules. Not sure about the mass regen either.
Please keep giving feedback and feel free to report issues in that issue tracker. Also if your looking to help even more I am always looking for anyone willing to help in whatever way they can w/ the project!
Fly safe!

A Tripwire hotfix was just released to address a security concern regarding the "remember me" login being exposed in a way that other mask users could potentially gain access to this data.
This was not a site wide or public hole, but specific to only the pool of active users in each mask.
Please logout and back into Tripwire to ensure you are completely safe from this vulnerability.
** The code fix can be seen via commit "Order 66"

Salgare wrote:I'm trying to get Short Circuit to authenticate with tripwire. I setup originally in tripwire using eve sso as I had trouble with the tripwire user/pass association with api key method.
It appears Short Circuit wants to authenticate with tripwire via the old tripwire user/pass authentication method.
Any tips on how I might get Short Circuit to connect to Tripwire?
details:
I can not add a new/unique tripwire user/password. I get to the point where you select which toon on the subscription associated with the given api and I get a user "already taken" error. I assume this is because I've used the selected subscripitions alt/toon already via sso.
You cannot have a Tripwire account without a Tripwire specific username & password. You can use the EVE SSO to sign into that Tripwire account without using that character's Tripwire username & password.

Now that I'm using sso to get in, how can I determine the tripwire specific user/pass? I use a password manager and when creating the tripwire account messed up on saving the password. Is there someway to reset the password?
Once logged in using SSO you can go into the Tripwire settings and see the username and also change it or the password without knowing the original password at all.

Some are reporting issues with the EVE API (ESI) not consistently responding - This will cause the in-game tracking to be delayed at times or completely not update at all for awhile.
I will keep monitoring and if any Tripwire changes can help with the issues I will hotfix them.

Last login date & time is located in your Tripwire settings The only data that is being saved are the systems that I have visited and made logs for. The data for each system is not being retained. I am in J172852 and recorded the data under the system of entry into the wormhole which will most likely disappear after logging off.
Tripwire automatically cleans up signatures & wormholes after their set life has expired. Make sure the life is set correctly or make it longer if you would rather manually delete them all.

Oranen wrote:Is there an easy way to tie in more than one character to a tripwire account? As of now I have to log out and relog another tripwire account to change tracking between my main and my alpha. Be nice if I could switch which one to track and save the API for each with one account. In the age of alphas who can't run online with an omega it gets pretty old fast.
That ability is in process right now - it requires lots of rewrites in the code, but we are making good progress and isn't too far down the road when this is possible.
Please bear with me :)

Minor Tripwire update....
- Added scrolling to ESI character list (4 characters before scrolling begins)
- Added ESI character online status (purely visual for now)
- Added ESI permission warning for alerting user when new permissions are added and a character must be re-added to make new features work. (icon in character pop-out next to online status)
- Changed TQ status and player count to ESI end-point
- ESI tweaks and minor fixes
Additional work has been done on a major update I've been working on for months... but its not ready yet so this update along with a few other minor updates will appear until the next major. The next update will include memory leak fixes, performance improvements, and QOL improvements.
Additional fixes and QOL improvements are coming as well and I hope to get them on Galileo (test version like SiSi soon).
Additionally server updates are planned for the cluster. This likely won't be noticed but will ensure Tripwire remains secure and responsive.

Moozh Vozmozhno wrote:Seems like there's a memory leak in the latest version.
I had it running fine all night, but once I logged in my 6 characters to EVE (which were all being tracked through Tripwire), within 10 minutes the memory usage in Chrome climbed to the point that it crashed and Windows gave me an out of memory error. This has happened a half dozen times to me in the past day or so and I can confirm that chrome.exe is climbing from under 1GB usage to over 4-5GB memory usage when I open Tripwire.
If I close Tripwire, no problems.
I tried in Microsoft Edge, and had the same problem with the memory leak. It's fairly reproducible.
This only started happening after I re-logged-in my characters after the update for the online status tracking feature.
Still trying to track the exact code down - it seems the update made existing code worse. A refresh of the page from time to time will keep things working until I track this culprit down.

3 fixes have been pushed:
1.) "Signature ID already exists!" error fixed when adding a signature ID that EVE Scout has but you can't see because you have that option disabled in the current chain map tab. 2.) The first chain map tab was not honoring the EVE Scout option, this is now fixed. 3.) The auto-mapper was sometimes making wormholes disappear because of bad system IDs from ESI, this is now checked for.
